Man admits charges over boy's death
CJ Oakford
CJ Oakford died in hospital from his injuries after the road accident
An illegal immigrant has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the death of a nine-year-old boy in West Sussex.

Callum John Oakford, who was known to his friends as CJ, died in hospital after he was hit by a car on the A259 at Ferring on Thursday.

Kamel Kadri, 38, of Wallace Parade, Goring, was accused of failing to stop at the scene of a road accident, failing to report an accident, other document offences and a passport offence.

At Worthing Magistrates on Monday, Kadri, who is Algerian, admitted all the charges against him.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Chichester Crown Court for sentencing on 6 February.

Sussex Police said Kadri was an illegal immigrant and the immigration department would be dealing with his status.

CJ, from Durrington, was with two other children when he was hit by a Renault 5 car as the group tried to cross the road at about 1600 GMT.

He was taken to Worthing Hospital where he died of his injuries.
