Dogs drowned in abandoned quarry
weight
This weight was tied to the hind leg of a dog
Two dogs have been deliberately drowned in a disused quarry in South Yorkshire, the RSPCA has said.

An inspector made the grim discovery in an abandoned quarry off Northfield Lane in Womersley, Doncaster.

Insp Kat Thorburn said it appeared both dogs had been thrown from the top of the quarry in separate incidents. One had its hind leg tied to a weight.

"There is no excuse for this kind of premeditated and heartless cruelty," she said.

"This has to be one of the most upsetting cases of my career with the RSPCA.

"What makes a person do something like this?"

She appealed for anyone with information about the case to contact the RSPCA and added there is help for anyone with a pet they cannot look after any more.
