A Somerset council believes it has found a novel way to deal with the problem of roosting pigeons underneath a railway bridge.
It is hoped the device, which emits a high-frequency noise, will stop the birds from roosting underneath the Kingston Road rail bridge in Taunton.
Taunton Deane council said the droppings posed a safety hazard.
It said the solution was an "economic and humane" way of dealing with pigeons and the mess they make.
Taunton Deane council now plans to remove the netting from under the bridge and clean the droppings up.
Environmental Heath officers will monitor the area after the equipment is installed.
