Developer floats car park plans
The planned car park
The car park would house more than 600 vehicles
A design to build a six-storey car park in the shape of an ocean-going liner has been submitted to planners.

James Scott, who grew up in Weston-super-Mare and is now a property millionaire, wants to build the 600 space car park in the town.

Town planners will also consider his vision for a £60m refit of the nearby rundown Birnbeck Pier including flats, shops and leisure facilities.

Council bosses are thought to be "a little amused" by Mr Scott's plans.

"It's a very interesting idea and would certainly be an amazing attraction for Weston," said Lib Dem councillor Alan Hockridge.

"I'm not certain it would fit in the area particularly for various reasons but we do give Mr Scott 10 out of 10 for innovation."
