Two killed as car goes over cliff
The crash site
The coastguard was alerted
Two teenagers who died when a car plunged from cliffs in Somerset have been named by police.

The car was found on Friday between Weston-super-Mare and Sand Bay after a member of the public saw tyre marks going off the coastal toll road.

The two 19-year-olds have been formally identified as Thomas Broomhall and Julian Bowen, both of Weston-super-Mare.

Police investigating the incident have appealed for witnesses.

North Somerset Council, which owns Toll Road, issued a statement saying: "This year we have spent over £50,000 on maintenance of the road.

"This has included road patching, pothole repairs, improved signage, speed restrictions, white lining, new drainage, weight restrictions and marker posts on the seaward side of the road.

"The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident and we will await their report."
