Council leaders have voted in favour of a ban on drinking alcohol in parts of a Shropshire town.
Oswestry Borough Council has decided to place a ban on anti-social drinking following complaints from a number of residents.
The move could lead to troublemakers being arrested or fined up to £500.
Council chief executive Paul Shelvin said if the scheme was a success it could be extended.
Residents in the town had said they felt intimidated by the threatening behaviour of some drunken revellers.
Areas which will be covered by the ban include Festival Square, Cae Glas Park, the Central Car Park and Bailey Head.
