Thousands of properties were flooded during the summer

Oxfordshire residents are being offered grants of £250 each to repair the damage caused by the floods in July.
West Oxfordshire District Council has been given £600,000 by the government to distribute to flood-hit residents.
The council estimates 1,655 households will be entitled to the grants and has retained £186,000 to help those who have experienced particular hardship.
The cash comes from the £10m Flood Recovery Grant which helps replace household goods lost in the deluge.

We are committed to help flood victims quickly and simply

Councillor Simon Hoare said: "Many people in west Oxfordshire have suffered disruption and hardship as a result of the recent floods.
"As a council we are committed to help flood victims quickly and simply.
"The cabinet has decided that a fixed sum of £250 be made available for every household that was affected.
"This is the simplest and fairest way to achieve our goal."
