Oxfordshire already recycles more than most areas

Waste managers in Oxfordshire have asked the government for £1m to improve recycling.
The County Council wants the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to fund a plan to revamp the county's eight recycling centres.
It says the sites need a substantial investment programme in order to make them state-of the-art.
The bid was submitted last week, and the outcome will be known in the New Year.
Government targets
Currently, 20% of household rubbish is recycled in Oxfordshire, compared with a national average of 13%.
However, the council says residents have to recycle still more to satisfy government targets.
It believes the centres' services need to be improved with new technologies and recycling methods.
