Council bans all cigarette breaks
New regulations are coming into force forbidding smoking on Nottingham City Council premises.

Employees used to be allowed short cigarette breaks outside their offices during working hours.

But they will no longer be able to smoke at work from Thursday. Councillors said the ban is justified.

They said about 500 Nottingham people die every year from smoking-related illnesses and treatment costs the local health service about £8m a year.
