Recycling rates increase in town
Recycling rates have risen in Hinckley from 12% to 22% - partly because of a controversial "bag it and box it" recycling scheme.

Hundreds of people signed petitions saying against the fortnightly project, claiming it meant rubbish was left rotting on the streets.

The council refused to bring back the weekly collection, but did provide bigger bins and extra bags for a fee.

Wheelie bins have been given to 43,000 homes in the borough.

But the council said the limits on space does encourage more people to recycle.
