Cathedral prepares for bishop's funeral
The Bishop of Knaresborough
Hundreds of people are expected to be at the bishop's funeral

Arrangements have been announced for the funeral of the Bishop of Knaresborough, the Right Reverend Frank Weston.

Bishop Frank, who was 67, died on 29 April in St James's Hospital in Leeds following a stroke.

The servicel will be in Ripon Cathedral on Wednesday 7 May at 1200 BST.

It will be attended by family, friends and colleagues as well as the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, the High Sheriff, and the mayors of Leeds, Harrogate, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Knaresborough.

"Great warmth"

The service will be led by the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, the Right Reverend John Packer.

Bishop Frank's brother, Canon David Weston, will read the New Testament lesson.

The Bishop, who lived in Roundhay in Leeds, was due to retire at the end of May.

In a tribute, the Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend David Hope has said Bishop Frank was "a human being of great warmth. We thank God for him."
