New boss to unlock NHS potential
A new boss has been appointed to help sell the region's innovative NHS ideas to the private sector.

Dr Peter Blenkinsop has been appointed chief executive of Health Enterprise East - based at Papworth Hospital NHS Trust in Cambridge.

The project aims to develop links with the private sector to produce innovative ideas for a wider market.

Dr Blenkinsop, of Halstead, Essex, said working with industry would benefit both patients and the NHS.

The project - which will cater for 68 NHS trusts in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk - is due to be launched in November.

Dr Blenkinsop was formerly director of business development at Silsoe Research Institute in Bedfordshire, one of eight Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council institutes in the UK.
