Norfolk Ski Club at Trowse has been given £686,000 by Sport England towards its development programme which will see the site modernised and expanded.

The money will also go towards extending and refurbishing the existing nursery slope and introduce a "kindergarten" run.

New lifts, called travelators, are also planned along with a scheme to double the size of the clubhouse.

Voluntary organisation

Club chairman and director Barry Spouge said the development was the result of five years of hard work.

"Norfolk Ski Club has committed itself to providing one of the country's finest ski and snowboard centres and making the facilities available to all," he said.

"The fact that we are able to provide such a facility is because we operate on a voluntary basis with only a handful of employees".
