Record breaking OAP swims again
Sunny Lowry
Sunny Lowry was just 22 when she swam the English Channel
A 92-year-old who was the first woman to swim the English channel 70 years ago has taken up the sport again.

Sunny Lowry, of Warrington, Cheshire, is now back in the water thanks to a special carers scheme.

She was aged just 22 when she swam the Channel in 1933 at her third attempt.

But she had not been able to swim for the past four years due to health problems.

Now, thanks to Warrington Borough Council's adult placement scheme, she is able to go once a week.

A carer accompanies her to Fordton Leisure Centre where she can now indulge in her sporting passion.
