VE Day party swings into action
Winston Churchill signs to crowds on VE Day
The 60th anniversary of VE Day will be celebrated on 8 May
Jive and swing bands are performing in Manchester on Sunday ahead of the 60th anniversary of VE Day next month.

Organisers of the event at The Printworks in Exchange Square say it is a celebration of the 1940s and 50s.

A collection of US Army jeeps are on display alongside actors dressed in war time costumes and Clark Gable and Betty Davies lookalikes.

Money raised from the event will be donated to the ex-servicemen's nursing home, Broughton House, in Salford.

The 60th anniversary of VE Day will be celebrated on 8 May across the country.

Thousands are expected to gather in London's Trafalgar Square for the free open event called A Party to Remember.

There will also be footage of the original Trafalgar Square VE Day celebrations from 1945.

The concert will be shown live on the BBC big screen in Manchester's Exchange Square, and also on screens in Birmingham, Liverpool and Hull.
