A road safety organisation has called for a tough sentence to be imposed on a 13-year-old who was caught driving a stolen car while drunk.
The 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted the offence at Salford Magistrates Court on Thursday last week.
The boy is believed to be the youngest person in Britain to be convicted of drink-driving.
Sandra Dutson from Roadpeace says a tough sentence would deter others.
Insp Dave Murtagh, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "I have never heard of anyone this young being prosecuted for drink driving.
"This is a persistent young offender who engages in anti-social activity in his community."
