Fury over airbase demolition bid
Campaigners are fighting to stop plans to demolish a derelict Second World War airbase in Cheshire.

They say it should be preserved to honour the pilots who died.

The Cranage base near Knutsford was used by the 96 Night Fighter Squadron which defended Manchester and Liverpool from attacks by German bombers.

Scottish Power has submitted a planning application to demolish the site and build a gas storage facility. A public inquiry is due to publish its findings.
