Security tight for conference
Police officer in central Manchester
Hundreds of extra officers will be in Manchester
Final security measures are being put in place in Manchester ahead of Labour's Spring conference.

The Prime Minister, ministers, MPs and delegates will be arriving ahead of the two-day gathering at the weekend.

Many roads around Manchester G-Mex, where the conference will be held, will be cordoned off and drivers are being warned of disruption from Friday.

Police and sniffer dogs will be carrying out searches of all conference buildings and hotels.

Hundreds of extra officers will be on duty and there will be limited access around G-Mex and the Midland Hotel.

The police are reassuring the public there has been no specific intelligence that the conference is a terrorist target.
