Huge owl found killed
A European owl
The owl is believed to have been killed by a fox
A large owl that went missing in Essex after it broke out of its leash while being exercised in a park has been found dead.

Jazz, a four-year-old European eagle owl, disappeared at 1400 BST on Saturday in Valentines Park, Ilford.

He flew to a nearby rooftop, but when some crows went for him he flew off in a "distressed state" and was last seen heading towards the town centre.

The owl's owner, Mark Triphook, said believed that it had been savaged by a fox.

The police had warned people, especially children, to stay away.

It was thought he may attack cats and small dogs when he became hungry.
