Two branches have had a reprieve
|
Post Office Ltd has confirmed a further 27 post office branches in Lincolnshire which were earmarked for closure are to be shut.
They include 17 branches which will be replaced by an outreach service - either a mobile facility or a post office within other premises.
The first closures are scheduled to take place at the end of January.
But both the Bailgate branch in Lincoln and the Brackenborough Road branch in Louth have been given a reprieve.
Post Office managers said these two branches would not be closed following a review of the issues raised during the consultation period and of factors relating to the geography, the availability of local transport and access to alternative branches.
Sustainable future
On Monday, Post Office Ltd announced 15 branches in the south of the county were to close.
Adrian Wales, Post Office Ltd's network development manager, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly.
"We have considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation.
"We believe the amended plan announced today offers our customers in this area the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future."
