The Sibsey Trader Windmill near Boston has been given a new set of sails worth £60,000 from English Heritage.

Five sails, which were up to 30 years old, were removed last August because of safety concerns at the Grade I listed site.

Project co-ordinator John Burditt said: "The mill has been part of Lincs' rich heritage for over 100 years."

Mill manager Ian Ansell, who runs the 74ft windmill on behalf of English Heritage, said: "This fabulous windmill is still such a vital part of the community, important not only as a working entity but as a museum exhibit too."

It was built in 1877, and is considered one of the best examples of a six-sail windmill in the country.

It supplies six types of flour, supplying Sibsey and surrounding villages directly.
