A Lincolnshire bobby has been named Community Police Officer of the Year.
PC Steve Cummings, from Grantham, was given a medal and certificate from Home Secretary David Blunkett at an awards ceremony on Wednesday night.
PC Cummings has worked in the force for 17 years, 10 of those as a beat bobby. In that time he has pioneered a number of community projects.
He has also developed a mentoring group, working with under-achieving children to improve school results.
PC Cummings' projects have tackled problems such as drug use and anti-social behaviour.
At the Jane's Police Review Gala Awards, he was given a £3,000 travel bursary to enable him to study community policing in another country.
