Cash award for speedy ambulances
Lincolnshire Ambulance Service has been rewarded for its fast response times, less than a week after it was given a zero rating in performance tables.

The Health Minister, Rosie Winterton, says crews are reaching 75% of patients with serious or life-threatening conditions within eight minutes.

Her department has rewarded the service with a £40,000 cash grant.

Ambulance spokesman Noel Wade says it is good news for the service - and they already have plans for the money.

"The £40,000 will be invested in our Bracebridge Heath control centre.

"We've already had an award of £1.2m to completely modernise, refurbish and update the control centre.

"The £40,000 will go on top of that, and we'll be looking at using it for triageing calls" (deciding priorities among emergency calls).
