The remains of the home in Leire after lightning struck
A Leicestershire home was gutted by a bolt of lightning, forcing a family to move out and live with relatives.

The house at Leire, near Lutterworth, now has no roof. Neighbour Tom Jackson said the whole street was shaken by the lightning strike on Tuesday night.

John Webb was at his son's school play and unaware of the drama back at home.

He said: "I got a message during the school play that the house had been struck by lighting and frankly there was not a great deal left."

He added: "Even after that, when I got back I was quite shocked at how much damage had happened in a short space of time as I had only been in the house 20 minutes before."

He said the family had had lots of help and they were trying to put it all back together.
