New park and ride site unveiled
A £9m park and ride scheme for Leicester has been unveiled after years of wrangling between council chiefs.

City leaders and their counterparts at Leicestershire County Council are due to consider the proposals for a site near Fosse Park in the coming weeks.

Previous plans two years ago to locate it on Aylestone Meadows were turned down by county councillors because of traffic concerns.

The new scheme will see buses going into the city centre every 10 minutes.

Council leaders hope it will ease congestion on the main roads to the south west of Leicester and to help promote the economic regeneration of the city centre.

A public consultation exercise is launched next month.
