Controversial plans to build a multi-million pound city academy in Leicester are set to move forward next month.
Education bosses want to build the academy on the site of the former Mary Linwood School.
The £20m academy, which will have both private and public investment, will have specialist departments of business and food technology for pupils.
The city council will decide whether to approve the plans next month. Teaching unions have criticised the proposals.
New thinking
The development in Saffron, for pupils aged three to 16, would see Newry Junior School and Southfields Infant School close down.
Council leaders plan to use the vacant land to build health facilities.
A report for Leicester City Council said the development would improve education standards in the south and west of the city.
