Recycling leads to cash rewards
Cash rewards are being offered as incentives to encourage people in part of Leicestershire to recycle more of their household waste.

Every month a householder in Oadby or Wigston will be randomly selected for a £25 prize if bin collectors judge their rubbish to be correctly sorted.

The borough council needs to improve recycling rates by more than 60% by next April.

The responsible recycling competition will be launched in September.

Green bags at the selected address will be searched to see if they contain the right materials.

If the bin collectors are satisfied the money will then be handed out on the doorstep.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council currently has a recycling rate of 20%.
