Routine surgery has been postponed for a third day because of a shortage of beds at Leicester's main hospitals.
The Accident and Emergency department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary has been overwhelmed with cases because of the recent cold snap.
There were 323 medical admissions in three days,a third more than normal, which affected the other hospitals.
Although admissions often peak at this time of the year, it has meant a shortage of beds.
