The fire, at Devonshire Junior School in Layton on Saturday night, is being treated as suspicious.

Six children aged between 10 and 12 have been questioned by police and released on police bail.

Blackpool Council says all 400 children due to return next week will be accommodated at the recently-vacated Boundary Primary School on Grange Park.

Build up resources

The head of Devonshire Juniors Neil Hodgkins says one of the main tasks now is to find teaching materials for the new school.

He said: "We have got to get equipment within the next six days and then we will build up resources from that."

Mr Hodgkiss said that help from the local education authority had been invaluable.

He added: "I am very confident that we will be well equipped very quickly."
