MP angry at police 'form-filling'
Roger Gale MP
Roger Gale told the Commons Kent Police was under-funded
Too much police time is spent sitting in swivel chairs filling out forms, according to a Kent MP who has worked as a special constable.

Roger Gale, Conservative MP for Thanet North, said in the Commons on Wednesday there were not enough officers on the beat in his constituency.

Mr Gale criticised what he called the under-funding of police in Kent.

He said extra money was needed in the county for policing the new licensing laws and looking after asylum seekers.

Mr Gale said: "The number of size 10 boots on the beat hour-by-hour, day-by-day, have not increased.

"The hours of police backsides sitting in swivel chairs in offices filling in forms have increased.

"But that is not what the man on Margate seafront or the lady in Herne Bay High Street wants."
