A former miner from Kent is urging ex-colleagues to make a claim for compensation for breathing problems before a government deadline expires.
Hundreds of men could miss out on a pay-out unless they act in the next two weeks.
The government has so far paid out £1bn, but it is closing the books to new claimants at the end of March.
John Phelan, from Aylesham, is one of more than 100,000 men awarded compensation for respiratory disease.
He worked at Snowdon Colliery for 43 years, starting at the age of 14 in 1940.
Mr Phelan, who is 78, now has emphysema and is disabled.
He only received compensation from the government after a 17-year legal battle.
He is now warning former colleagues that time is running out in which they should lodge compensation claims.
The cut off date for claims for respiratory disease is Wednesday, 31 March.
