A headteacher accused of indecently assaulting a child is missing from his Isle of Wight home and is said to be in a distressed state.
Alistair Wilbee disappeared a week ago after it was revealed he had been charged by police.
Mr Wilbee, 47, from Shanklin, has denied the charge.
Pupils began the new term at Summerfield Primary School, Newport, Isle
of Wight - where Mr Wilbee worked - on Thursday.
He has not been seen since he left his home at 1845 BST on 28 August, according to police.
Distressed state
A police spokesman said: "Alistair Charles Wilbee disappeared following
the publication of the fact that he has been charged with indecent assault.
"It is an allegation he emphatically denies.
"He left his home in a distressed state and has not made any contact with his
family since."
He is described as white, of medium build, with brown, thinning hair, wearing glasses and was unshaven.
