British Airways has announced it is pulling 84 staff out of Southampton International Airport.

The company is shutting its operations base at the regional airport and will axe its Glasgow route on 27 October this year.

The airline will continue to run flights to Manchester and Edinburgh from Southampton.

It comes on the day BA announced it would increase the number of "low-cost" seats from London Gatwick by 500%.

Cabin crew and engineers affected by the withdrawal of the service will be offered the chance to relocate to Manchester or Edinburgh.
