No action against death probe GP
No further action is to be taken against an Essex doctor arrested on suspicion of murdering an elderly patient, police said on Monday.

Dr Paul Davis, 51, a GP from Castle Hedingham, was arrested in October and questioned about the death of 86-year-old George Letch.

Mr Letch died at his Sible Hedingham home on 9 December 2003.

Dr Davis did not practise medicine while under investigation, but has since gone back to work.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "A 51-year-old doctor arrested in October on suspicion of the murder of a Sible Hedingham pensioner has been released from his bail.

"Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service no further action will be taken in respect of this case."

Dr Davis works for the Witham, Halstead and Braintree Care Trust.
