Parents and pupils demonstrated against the closure plan

A Devon council has recommended a primary school should close despite protests from parents.
Torbay Council is proposing closing Upton St James school because of falling pupil numbers in the area.
About 150 protesters made up of parents and pupils demonstrated before the council's meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
Pupil numbers in district are expected to fall by about 1,000 in the next five years and the cash-strapped council said it could not afford empty places.
The final decision will be taken by the Schools' Organisation Committee, which is independent of the council.
Because of falling pupils numbers, the council is also to reduce the amount places at Ellacombe School.
