People in north Devon fighting plans for a £40m biomass power station are organising a visual stunt on Sunday.
A 42-metre high crane, which protesters say will be the same height as the proposed plant's chimneys, is being erected on Winkleigh Airfield.
Prizes will be given to people who can spot the crane from furthest away.
But the company behind the power plant plans, Peninsula Power, says it is not proposing to erect any chimneys on the airfield site.
The protest group, Devon Under Serious Threat, is staging the stunt alongside the annual Village Bus Fair which will also be taking place on the airfield and is expected to attract thousands of enthusiasts.
