Members of the Methodist Church in Jersey are commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth one of the founders of their movement, John Wesley.
The 84-year-old John Wesley, who was born in Lincolnshire, arrived in Jersey on 20 August 1787 via Guernsey and Alderney, intending to stay a few days.
However bad weather delayed the preacher's departure and he finally left Jersey for the Cornish town of Penzance on 6 September.
Jersey Methodists have held several commemorative services and will gather in St Mary on Saturday to mark the spot where Wesley once preached.
A charismatic man, he was known to be an astute observer of human nature and island life.
The leader of Jersey's Methodist Church, the Reverend Ian White, presided at the national commemoration of John Wesley at Lincoln Cathedral earlier this year.
