Flood leaves town shops in chaos
Shops in a Derbyshire town centre were forced to close on Thursday afternoon after widespread flooding.

Businesses on Dig Street and Station Road in Ashbourne were hit after problems caused by rainwater and a blocked drain.

A supermarket was forced to evacuate customers and staff, while emergency services worked to clear drains and ease disruption on roads.

Trader Christine Beresford stayed open but said others were badly hit.

She said: "It just stated raining and it started running all down the road.

"A lot of shops have not got steps and the water just went straight in."

She said sewage was washed into one shop in the town.
