Bad behaviour kicked into touch
A sporty project that has helped kick anti-social behaviour into touch on a housing estate is being extended.

The Safer South Derbyshire Partnership, which is made up of various agencies, launched a football tournament in April for kids in Goseley, Hartshorne.

Project leaders now plan to launch a summer tournament in September, as well as a repeat in April 2006.

About 80 youngsters, aged 11 to 18-years-old, took part in the inaugural event earlier this year.

Ian Duckmanton, who helped run the tournament, said: "Sport can inspire and motivate young people and we believe the league helps the Safer South Derbyshire Partnership to reduce anti-social behaviour by providing a diversionary activity."
