Carmaker Toyota is building a £11m training centre at its main UK factory in Derbyshire.
The Japanese firm is aiming to solve the problem of a shortage of skilled workers by training them in Derbyshire.
More than 1,000 people a year from across Europe will study at the new facility starting in 2006.
Toyota Europe president Shinichi Sasaki said: "This continues Toyota's policy of localisation in Europe."
Workers from Poland, France, Turkey, Portugal and the Czech Republic will take courses at the new centre.
Located at a 8,000-sq-m facility in Burnaston, near Derby, it will be modelled on a similar centre in Toyota City, Japan.
