War veterans in memorial protest
Scores of ex-servicemen and women are in the centre of Derby to protest at plans to move a war memorial garden.

The city council wants to relocate the Sir Peter Hilton Garden, and the nearby Korean War Memorial, to make way for the £9m Quad arts centre.

At Sunday's demonstration Sir Peter's widow Lady Hilton will speak to the gathered ex-service personnel. Organisers say the veterans are prepared to fight again over an issue close to their heart.

"Decisions can be reversed and we hope we can get the council to reverse this one," said Roy Magahey, memorial officer for the Derby and Burton branch of the Korean War Veterans Association.

The city council has offered to either incorporate the memorial into the centre or move it to a new location.
