Operation Throttle was set up in Breadsall after people complained about motorcyclists and quad bikers causing misery in the village.

Residents said a 90 acre area behind the Paddock and Windmill pubs has been turned into a virtual no-go area.

On 18 and 19 September, officers patrolled fields in the area, arrested three people, seized two motorcycles and issued 16 warnings.

Unroadworthy vehicles

One female resident - who asked not to be named - said she was glad the clampdown had started.

"We have to leave the house quite often because the noise is just so intense and so people feel physically sick because of the noise and stress of it.

"Some people have been threatened by bikers and have had mud thrown at them.

"People would use it if it was not for the bikes because it is a lovely area."
