Engine delivers 'meals on wheels'
Older people in Workington will be tucking into feasts delivered by a fire engine on Tuesday as part of National "meals-on-wheels" week.

Cumbria County Council is marking this year's event, by enlisting the help of the county Fire & Rescue Service's three new community safety officers.

They will fit free smoke detectors and provide potentially life-saving advice to older people across the county.

A fire engine will also deliver meals to promote the safety message.

West Cumbria's older person's advocate, Lynn English, said the aim of the event was to promote the safety service which aims to reduce the number of fire deaths and injuries among the county's ageing population.
