Appeal to identify woman's body
Police are trying to establish the identity of a young woman whose body was found on the banks of a Cumbrian river.

The body was discovered on the banks of the River Kent at Sedgwick, south Kendal, at around 1000 GMT on Wednesday.

Detectives believe she was in her teens or 20s, and early indications suggest she has been dead for some time.

The woman was wearing cream-coloured trousers, a T-shirt with "Little Italy, 42nd Street NYC" printed on it, and a hooded woollen cardigan with a zip.

A bracelet and blue topaz dress ring were also found.

Cumbria Police are making further inquiries to try and identify the body.
