Dog fouling can damage sensitive beach plant-life

Rangers are watching dog walkers to make sure their animals are not fouling Cornwall's beaches.
The Yuk campaign was launched last month at Gwithian Towans and is now being expanded to Penhale Sands.
Rangers will also highlight the damaging effects of dog fouling on sensitive dune plants and wildlife, as well as monitoring dog walkers.
Dog mess can act as a concentrated fertilizer, damaging rare plants which need sandy soil's low nutrient levels.
Carrick District Council dog wardens will also be in the Perran Sands area, and will enforce on-the-spot fines on dog walkers seen not to be cleaning up after their animals.
