The Westcountry Ambulance Services NHS Trust is re-assuring people that its new control centre will provide more effective cover than ever before.
One hundred staff from the ambulance trust are moving into a new control centre in Exeter on Wednesday
State-of-the-art technology has been installed at the accident and emergency control room, where operators deal with 999 calls and dispatch ambulances.
The £1.5m facility is being officially opened by HRH the Princess Royal.
Future advances
The centre will provide cover for the 53 ambulance stations around the region.
Helen Warren from the trust says the new site will provide a more effective response.
She said: "We are a technology-based industry in the control centre and it has moved on to such an extent that we've outgrown what we had.
