Labour boss ousted by first Green

The leader of the Labour group on Cambridgeshire County Council has lost his seat to the Green Party, which has gained its first ever councillor there.

Paul Sales was beaten in the Cambridge Abbey ward by Simon Sedgwick-Jell, who is a former Labour leader of Cambridge City Council.

All seats in the county council have now been counted.

The Tories gained one seat, the Green Party gained one seat, Labour lost two seats and the Lib-Dems stayed the same.

One seat was not up for re-election because of the death this week of councillor Ray Powell.
