Katrina bids for Euro pop glory

Katrina and the Waves who won in 1997 are flying a different flag
US pop singer Katrina Leskanich, who helped to win the Eurovision Song contest for the UK seven years ago, is to enter the competition for Sweden.

Katrina and the Waves, who formed in Cambridge in 1981, won the competition in 1997 with Love Shine a Light.

The band were well-known in the UK for their 1985 hit Walking on Sunshine.

Next year Leskanich will sing As If Tomorrow Never Comes with Swedish band The Playboys, who will be renamed The New Wave for the competition.
