Plans to reorganise secondary school education in Bristol are going out to public consultation.
The move follows publication of proposals for the new North Bristol Institute on playing fields at Redland, and is expected to last four months.
Four schools in the city - Cotham, Henbury, Monks Park and Portway - are likely to be affected by any changes.
The new North Bristol Institute would cater for 800 pupils in its sixth form.
In a separate move, the city council has just been given £120m to rebuild four secondary schools.
