Five hundred trees will be planted alongside a Berkshire road to offset carbon emissions.
West Berkshire Council is planting one tree for every visitor who came to their Market Street offices, in Newbury, during a week in September.
The trees will be planted on an embankment off Floral Way, in Thatcham.
It is hoped the site will create a buffer between green belt agricultural land and a recent development in north Thatcham.
Geoff Findlay, the council's representative for the countryside and environment, said: "An annual programme of tree planting is planned to ensure that continuous developments are made towards a greener future."
